A truck carrying nearly 12 tons of chocolate bars has gone missing in Europe, Swiss food company Nestlé said.
The vehicle was transporting more than 413,000 Kit Kat chocolate bars from a new product range. It left central Italy and was scheduled to deliver the shipment across several European countries, with its final stop in Poland.
The truck never reached its destination. Authorities believe the entire shipment was stolen during transit, although the exact location and timing of the incident remain unclear.
Shipment remains unaccounted for
The vehicle and its cargo are still missing. The company has not confirmed where the truck was last tracked. Officials have also not released details about possible suspects or how the theft was carried out. The value of the missing shipment has not been disclosed.
Batch codes may help trace stolen bars
In a separate statement, the brand said the stolen chocolate bars can be identified using unique batch codes printed on the packaging. Anyone who scans these codes will receive instructions on how to contact the company. This system could help trace the products if they appear in shops or secondary markets.

Rising concern over cargo theft
The company said cargo theft is becoming a growing issue for businesses across Europe. It noted that such incidents are increasing and are affecting companies of all sizes.
Industry observers say food shipments are often targeted because they are easy to resell and difficult to track once removed from official supply chains.
Investigation underway
Authorities have launched an investigation to locate the missing truck and recover the stolen goods. They are also working to determine how the theft took place and whether organized groups were involved.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about transport security in Europe, as companies continue to face risks despite improved tracking systems.
