Personnel from the Hellenic National Defence General Staff’s Special Warfare Command (SWC/DEP) achieved an outstanding result by securing the 3rd place finish in the multinational military competition, “EUROPEAN BEST SNIPER TEAM COMPETITION 2025” (EBST-25).
The Greek team, consisting of a two-person sniper team from the Special Warfare Command, was invited to participate by the United States Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF).
The Greek special forces team and sniper competition details
The competition took place between November 17 and 23, at the Grafenwöhr Training Area, in Germany. The contest was held under significantly adverse weather conditions, testing the endurance and precision of all participants.
The Greek team competed against 35 teams from 22 participating countries, highlighting the broad international scope of the event. The team’s strong performance, finishing third overall, demonstrates the high level of training, professionalism, and operational readiness of the Hellenic Special Operations Forces (SOF) / Special Forces.
The primary objectives of the EBST-25 competition were:
- To enhance combat readiness and interoperability of the participating allied units
- To facilitate the exchange of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), especially concerning the use of new equipment and technological advances in sniping
The Greek Special Warfare Command’s participation not only validated the proficiency of its personnel but also contributed to valuable knowledge sharing within the NATO and allied special operations communities.
