Aristotle Onassis’s historic yacht ‘Christina O’ is being offered in the open market for the first time for an asking price of €90,000,000 ($96,500,000), Autoevolution reports.

Christina O, an iconic superyacht launched way back in 1943, has stood the test of time, and it has now joined the open market for the first time with Morley Yachts, according to the report.

This one-of-a-kind vessel was available for private charter after the 2022 refit. It is now lying in Nice, France, awaiting a new owner, preferably a passionate yachtsman enthralled by the idea of being a “steward of history.”

The vessel became the stage for The Crown 5, which was released on Netflix in 2022. During its history it hosted a wealth of illustrious guests in the 1950s and 1960s, Among those who have graced its decks over the years were Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, Maria Callas, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, JFK, Frank Sinatra, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco and, of course, Onassis’ wife and former First Lady of the US, Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

Christina O was purchased in 1954 by Onassis

Starting life in World War Two as a Canadian frigate, the Christina O was purchased in 1954 by Onassis. Originally built as an anti-submarine frigate for the Royal Canadian Navy, Christina O was bought for scrap value by Onassis in 1954.

The Greek shipowner, who was the second husband of Jackie Kennedy, then spent four million dollars refurbishing it into a luxury superyacht at the HDW shipyard in Kiel.

Onassis epitomized the life of the superyacht elite, garnering a reputation as the original jet setter, but following his death in 1975, the Christina O fell into disrepair.

A meticulous restoration project led by a family friend of Onassis was completed and, today, charterers can enjoy the resonance of her unique past with the ultimate in luxurious accommodations and on-board service.

A variety of vast open-air spaces across Christina O offer a multitude of options for lounging and socializing. Most impressive is the main deck, where Onassis’ swimming pool has been faithfully restored, with its renowned Minoan bull and vaulter mosaic. What’s more, the bottom of the pool can be raised to form a dance floor.

Known as the Onassis Suite, the yacht’s master stateroom on the bridge deck amidships comprises three rooms: large sleeping quarters, a white Penteli marble bathroom and a book-lined study with the original onyx fireplace.

Christina O has been spotted many times in Greece recently. Last September it was spotted on patrol in the Arvanitia Gulf of the city of Nafplio.
