Norse Atlantic Airways has expanded its transatlantic route network by adding a new route connecting Athens (ATH), Greece, and Los Angeles (LAX), United States.
The low-cost long-haul airline will commence operations on June 3, 2025, coinciding with the start of what is considered the highly lucrative travel season.
Norse Los Angeles-Athens route 4 times a week
Norse Atlantic’s ATH to LAX flight will run four times a week using the carrier’s fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner widebodies. The new route, set to begin on June 3, 2025, will be the airline’s longest, covering 6,928 miles (11,149 km) and requiring approximately 13 hours and 30 minutes to complete the journey.
Athens has never been directly connected to Los Angeles or any other West Coast US destinations before. This route will become the Greek capital’s longest, surpassing Delta Air Lines’ Atlanta (ATL) to Athens service.
Commenting on the news, Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, said:

The low-cost long-haul airline
As a low-cost long-haul airline, Norse Atlantic focuses on making typically expensive long-distance flights more accessible. Fares between the two destinations will start at $269 (259 EUR), with options available in both economy and premium classes. However, the service will not include inclusive meals.
This is not the first Norse service connecting Athens and the United States. In May 2024, the airline launched nonstop direct flights from Athens to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The route operated until October 26, 2024.

“We believe this route will not only cater to the demand for travel to Greece but will also create opportunities for cultural exchange and business collaborations between these two vibrant destinations.”
Norse Atlantic Airways is a Norwegian low-cost long-haul airline founded in 2021. It primarily operates a fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are fuel-efficient and comfortable for long-haul flights. These aircraft feature economy and premium economy cabins.
It connects major cities in Europe, such as Oslo, London, Paris, and Berlin, to prominent destinations in North America, including New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. They aim to expand their network to more destinations.
