Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be in New York the week of September 22 to participate in the 79th UN General Assembly (UNGA).

Also traveling to New York is Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis.

Mitsotakis’ schedule includes a speech at the UN General Assembly on September 26 and meetings with representatives of the Greek diaspora and investors. A meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is not currently included in the schedule, though it is considered certain that one will take place.

In his speech at the UN General Assembly Mitsotakis is expected, among other things, to make special mention of the fact that Greece will assume the position of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council next year, with its motto being: “Dialogue, Democracy, Diplomacy.”

On the same day, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Earlier, the Prime Minister will make two appearances at the UN Summit on the Future, on Sunday and Monday, September 22 and 23, respectively. The Summit on the Future is a platform that will address challenges such as geopolitical tensions, economic instability, human rights, digital governance, and threats to global peace.

On September 23, the Greek Prime Minister will be one of four individuals honored with the Global Citizen award by the prominent American think tank, the Atlantic Council.

According to the Atlantic Council, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be honored “for his remarkable career in public service and the private sector, as well as his leadership of Greece and in transatlantic, European, and global affairs.”

The award will be presented to Mitsotakis by Pfizer Chairman and CEO Dr. Albert Bourla.

On Tuesday, September 24, at 2:00 PM, the Prime Minister will address a Greek-American community event co-hosted by major Greek-American organizations in Astoria. During the event, the Prime Minister will award prominent members of the Diaspora.

During his stay in New York, Mitsotakis will also meet with investors, where he will have the opportunity to present the new landscape shaped for the Greek economy by the recovery of investment-grade status, as well as the data showing that Greece has the second-highest growth rate in the European Union.

Additionally, he will meet with representatives of major Jewish organizations.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly he will hold meetings with several world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Wednesday, September 25), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan (Wednesday, September 25), Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić (Thursday, September 26), Panamanian President José Raúl Molino (Wednesday, September 25), and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti (Thursday, September 26).

Mitsotakis will also meet with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa (Wednesday, September 25), the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah (Sunday, September 22), as well as with the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas (Tuesday, September 22).
