Grecian Delight supports Greece

The stunning beauty of the Acropolis was enhanced by the internationally renowned, EMMY award-winning lighting designer Deko, following an invitation of interest addressed by the Onassis Foundation, which funded the daunting project.

“The image of the Acropolis, our foremost monument, reflects and transmits the image of the country. The Onassis Foundation has kindly offered to undertake the significant sponsorship of a series of projects at Acropolis, ” said Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni.

Acropolis lighting highlights the architecture of the monument

The new lighting gradients in intensity and shades of white, between the outer and inner parts of the monuments, in order to highlight their architectural elements and enhance the perception of their reliefs, depth, and plasticity.

Additionally, as part of the technical upgrade, any light pollution created by the lighting has now also been reduced.

The LIT Design Awards was created to recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting implementers. The organization believes that lighting is both an art and a science, and it is one of the most important elements of design.

“We are thrilled that the Audiovisual presentation of the new Lighting of the Acropolis, received a PLATINUM award in the international MUSE creative awards in the events category,” Eleftheria Deko said about the honor.
