The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) has launched Iniochos 2026, a major multinational air exercise currently underway at Andravida Air Base. Running from Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 20, 2026, the event serves as a critical training ground for allied and partner nations to test complex operational scenarios across the Greek theater.
The exercise is overseen by the Tactics Weapons School of the Air Tactics Center, which manages all phases of the operation—from initial scenario planning to the final debriefing and analysis. This approach ensures that participants cover the full spectrum of modern air combat missions.
Operational scope
The exercise is designed to be highly realistic, utilizing the diverse geomorphological features of the Greek landscape. The HAF is deploying its full arsenal of fighter aircraft, including the Rafale and F-16 Viper, alongside helicopters, transport, and training aircraft. Crucially, the exercise includes support from the Greek Army and Navy, which helps create complex, multi-domain environments.
A significant portion of Iniochos 2026 will be conducted in the digital sphere. The Air Tactics Center is utilizing F-16 tactical simulators from its Operational Synthetic Training Squadron, allowing pilots to train in a high-fidelity, virtual combat environment alongside live flying operations.
International participation in Iniochos 2026
The exercise continues to solidify its reputation as one of the most competitive training events in Europe and the Mediterranean. This year’s edition features a robust contingent of international partners, including:
- France: Participating with M-2000D and E3F aircraft
- Slovenia: Participating with PC-9 trainers
- Albania: Participating with AS-532 helicopters
- Poland: Contributing Special Operations Forces
Additionally, military observer teams from Georgia, Serbia, Croatia, and India are in attendance to evaluate the exercises.
The HAF concludes that the high level of professionalism required to organize and execute such large-scale, multi-domain scenarios positions Iniochos as a premier destination for air forces seeking advanced, realistic combat training.
