Greek wines and spirits took center stage at the China Xinghuacun International Alcoholic Drinks Expo 2025, as Greece was the Guest of Honor in this major international trade event held in Fenyang city, Shanxi province.
The Greek presence at the expo, which attracted nearly 500 domestic and international producers, served as a key platform for promoting the nation’s premium food and beverage sector in the sophisticated Chinese market.
Evgenios Kalpyris, Greece’s Ambassador to China, emphasized this point in his opening remarks, stressing that the organized promotion of Greek products—known for their superior quality and brand strength—is a competitive advantage for the sector.
He noted that the exhibition offers an opportunity for exceptional Greek wines and spirits to gain visibility and recognition among Chinese consumers.
Exhibition targeting Chinese consumers
“In sophisticated consumer markets around the world, the quality of Greek foods and beverages has become synonymous with high quality,” Kalpyris said.
“The exhibition we are inaugurating today will offer an opportunity to exceptional Greek wines and spirits to enhance their visibility and recognition among Chinese consumers.”
Supported by the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office of Greece’s embassy, three Greek importers showcased premium Greek wines and spirits and various representatives shared details about Greek agricultural products at the Greek Pavilion.
In a special section of the expo, Greece’s embassy presented an exhibition on the history of the Olympic Games that featured photographs and a history of the event, from 776 BC to the present day.
