As of February 12, 2026, Greece has officially resumed visa application processing across India, boosting tourism between the two nations. The reopening of Visa Application Centers (VACs) marks a return to normalcy for one of Greece’s most high-potential emerging markets, streamlining access for millions of prospective travelers.

Guidelines for Indian travelers to Greece

According to the Greek Embassy in New Delhi, the following protocols are now in effect:

  • Booking: Appointments must be scheduled through the official online platform with a complete documentation file.
  • Processing Times: The standard turnaround is 15 days, though this may extend to 45 working days if consultation with other Schengen states is required.
  • Advance Planning: Applications can be submitted up to six months before the travel date. Authorities recommend applying at least 15 working days before departure to account for limited appointment availability and transit times for applications filed outside New Delhi.

Aviation: Closing the distance between Greece and India

Connectivity between the two nations is reaching a turning point. While travelers currently rely on hubs in the Middle East and Istanbul, a major development is set to transform the route:

IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost carrier, and Aegean Airlines, the flag carrier of Greece, have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a codeshare partnership. The agreement is designed to provide passengers with seamless travel between India and Greece and an expanded network across Europe.

The new partnership will significantly enhance air connectivity between the two regions by introducing a series of new, direct flights.
