Tsitsipas and Djokovic face a tough opening test in Indian Wells
Their first challenge will be anything but easy. Tsitsipas and Djokovic open against Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic, the defending champions at Indian Wells and one of the most established doubles teams in the field.
They will play on Stadium 3 in the fourth match on court, which means the schedule does not include a fixed official start time. The match is expected to begin late Monday in California and in the early hours of Tuesday, March 10, in Greece, depending on the length of the earlier matches.
Off-court chemistry
Tsitsipas and Djokovic have earned their reputations as elite singles players, but their relationship away from the court has also drawn attention. Djokovic, who has spent extended time in Greece, has developed close ties with the Greek star.
Before the match, the pair generated buzz on social media with a playful off-court moment. Tsitsipas posted a photo of the two outside a supermarket, sitting in a shopping cart while Djokovic pushed him, giving fans a glimpse of their relaxed chemistry ahead of the contest.
In the caption, Tsitsipas wrote: “Your new Indian Wells doubles duo. Can’t wait to play with you Novak.”
