A German teen, named Laura, who had been missing from Patras, Greece, since early January, has been found safe in Berlin. She was identified during a routine street check yesterday, Thursday, February 26, and is currently being cared for by local social services.
The 16-year-old girl, a German national whose family lives permanently in Patras, was officially reported missing by her parents on January 8. Following her disappearance, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) launched an intensive investigation into her movements.

Authorities quickly pieced together a timeline suggesting the girl had planned her departure. Evidence revealed she had recently purchased an iPhone from a classmate and had confided in a friend that she was seeking funds to travel.
Further inquiries traced her journey from Patras to Zografou, Athens, where she arrived by taxi—the driver confirmed she had been traveling alone throughout the trip. Once in the capital, she visited a travel agency and purchased a ticket to Frankfurt, Germany.
International cooperation
By February 9, investigators had pinpointed her presence in Berlin. Her discovery was the result of persistent collaboration between the Greek police, German authorities, and Europol, who worked in close coordination throughout the weeks-long search.
The search concluded successfully yesterday when she was located in Berlin. While she is confirmed to be in good health, the reasons for her sudden departure from her home remain unclear. German social services are currently facilitating communication between the teenager and her family, ensuring her well-being is prioritized throughout the reunion process.
