Dean Metropoulos, a noted Greek-American investor, has bought a five percent stake in the renowned New England Patriots football team.

Private equity firm Sixth Street Partners is taking an additional three percent, for a combined sale of eight percent valued at approximately $720 million. The deal, which does not affect the New England Revolution (MLS), is viewed as a signal of a broader transformation in how professional sports teams are financed and managed.

NFL owners are scheduled to vote on final approval of the deal on October 21-22, 2025. Metropoulos is expected to contribute strategic vision to the Patriots’ commercial strategies, including sponsorships and international outreach, building on his reputation for revitalizing iconic brands such as Hostess and Pabst Blue Ribbon.
