Exports of Greek yogurt from Greece have grown dramatically between 2014 and 2023, nearly tripling in volume. The amount of yogurt exported surged from over 44,000 tons in 2014 to more than 127,000 tons in 2023.
This growth also corresponds to a large increase in value, from €111 million to €325 million over the same period.
FAGE was a pioneer in this market, being the first to export Greek yogurt in 1983 to the UK. However, the current leading exporter is Kri-Kri, a company based in northern Greece.
Kri-Kri’s dairy products, primarily yogurt, accounted for the majority of its sales in 2024, with exports making up 62 percent of its total dairy sales. Italy has also replaced the UK as Greece’s top export destination for yogurt.
Kri-Kri is investing €52 million to expand its production capacity, with the goal of more than doubling its total sales to over €500 million by the end of 2027.
