Rock legend, Alice Cooper, has announced his performance at the 2025 edition of Greece’s Rockwave Festival in Athens.
Alice, who will perform at the festival on July 11, says, “Anticipating fun next year at the Rockwave Festival in Athens, join us won’t you? Tickets are live now, so what are you waiting for?”
Alice Cooper’s second concert in Athens in the last three years
The Rockwave Festival, one of the most famous music festivals in Greece, takes place in Malakasa near Athens. The festival’s history began in 1996, but its popularity has spread since 2004. The festival’s location was constantly being changed until 2004, when event park TerraVibe Park, located in Attica, became the permanent venue of the festival.
Rockwave Festival welcomes each year the greatest bands and most popular artists of the music industry, as well as festival goers from all around the world. Up to this day, over 300 international and Greek artists are a part of its history.
In 2022 Alice Cooper and Bonnie Tyler, the two internationally recognized rockers, gave a concert in Athens to support the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece. The American rock singer sang two songs at the end of the concert in a very theatrical way, stirring the crowd and receiving the loudest applause.
The concert attended by thousands was held at the ancient Herodes Atticus Odeon (“Herodion”) below the Acropolis under the aegis of the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Athens Municipality.
Alice Cooper: The Godfather of Shock Rock
Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier) has a career spanning sixty years.
With a raspy voice and a stage show that features numerous props and stage illusions, Cooper is considered by many music journalists and peers to be “The Godfather of Shock Rock”. He has drawn equally from horror films, vaudeville, and garage rock to pioneer a macabre and theatrical brand of rock designed to shock audiences.
The 76-year-old rocker has experimented with various musical styles, mainly hard rock, glam rock, heavy metal, and glam metal, but also new wave, art rock, and industrial rock.
He helped shape the sound and look of heavy metal, and has been described as the artist who “first introduced horror imagery to rock’n’roll, and whose stagecraft and showmanship have permanently transformed the genre”.
He is also known for his wit offstage, with The Rolling Stone Album Guide calling him the world’s most “beloved heavy metal entertainer”. Aside from music, Cooper is a film actor, a golfing celebrity, a restaurateur, and, since 2004, a radio disc jockey (DJ) with his classic rock show Alice’s Attic.
He recently announced that guitarist Orianthi will be joining his band for shows January 31 through February 16, filling in for Nita Strauss, who unfortunately has conflicting obligations of her own.
Orianthi toured with Alice from 2011 to 2014, along with longtime band members Chuck Garric, Glen Sobel, Tommy Henriksen, and Ryan Roxie.
