A total of 36,246 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Greece on Monday. The number is 18,613 cases more than the 17,633 cases recorded on Sunday.
A total of 146,476 coronavirus tests were performed in Greece in the last 24 hours, bringing the positivity rate to 24.74%, upfrom 22.4% on Sunday, when only 78,679 tests were administered.
The record for the highest number of coronavirus cases recorded in the country in one day was broken last Friday, with a total of 40,560 cases.
Friday was the fifth consecutive day that Greece had broken a record for the most cases in 24 hours since the beginning of the pandemic.
Last Thursday, Greece had recorded another staggering total of 35,580 cases of Covid-19, an increase of 6,752 over the 28,828 that was recorded last Wednesday.
Just 38 of Monday’s cases were identified during routine Covid-19 testing of tourists at the country’s borders.
Currently, there are 615 patients with the coronavirus on ventilators in Greece, eleven fewer than the 626 who were undergoing the invasive treatment on Sunday.
Over one million Covid-19 cases recorded in Greece
A total of 78 people across Greece died with the coronavirus on Monday, 17 more than the 61 people who succumbed with the virus on Sunday. This brings the total number of deaths associated with the virus to 20,990 as of Monday.
95.1% of the people who succumbed with the virus had underlying disease and/or were age 70 years and older.
Based on the confirmed cases of the last seven days, 217 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1,000 are related to an already known case.
Among intubated patients, 522 (84.88%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 93 (15.12%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,780 patients have been discharged from the ICU across the country.
The number of admissions of new Covid-19 patients to Greek hospitals was 437, showing a increase of 37 over Sunday.
The average number of daily admissions for coronavirus in Greece over the past week is 413.
The total number of coronavirus cases recorded in Greece is 1,294,741, showing a daily increase of 2.9%, of which 50.3% are men.
The median age of all this suffering with the virus is 36 years, while the median age of death is 78 years.
