Car sales grew 22.6 pct in 2018 after a 4.1 pct increase recorded in December, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday. The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that car registrations totaled 9,195 in December (new or used ones), from 8,833 in December 2017, for an increase of 4.1 pct. New car registrations totaled 5,969, up 1.1 pct.

In 2018, car registrations totaled 190,847 (new or used ones), up 22.6 pct from 2017. New car registrations totaled 110,769 in 2018 from 95,171 in 2017, an increase of 16.4 pct.

Motorcycle registrations totaled 1,287 in December, down 49.8 pct form the same month in 2017. New motorcycle registrations totaled 1,185, down 52.1 pct from 2017. In 2018, motorcycle registrations totaled 36,806, up 16.2 pct from the previous year, while new motorcycle registrations rose 15.7 pct to 33,377.
