Ancient human remains were discovered in Lovelock Cave in Nevada, USA. However, certain skeletons reach a massive height of 10 feet. Not only are they gigantic, but some of these bodies, believed to be mummies, also had distinctive red hair.
This finding has reignited an age-old belief suggesting that a forgotten group of people once ruled the southwestern part of America.
Based on Paiute beliefs, an ancient tribe in Nevada, there’s a tale of red-haired giants known as the Si-Te-Cah who settled in the Americas from a faraway island thousands of years ago.
The legend says these giants sailed across the ocean on reed rafts, earning a reputation for their extraordinary height, strength, and cruelty compared to regular people.
In 1911, miners searching for bat guano, an essential fertilizer ingredient, stumbled upon peculiar items in a cave close to Lovelock, Nevada. This discovery led to two official excavations, one in 1912 and another in 1924, unearthing thousands of artifacts.
Lovelock Giants measured between 8 and 10 feet tall
The discoveries included mummies, famously called the Lovelock Giants, ranging from 8 to 10 feet tall, as reported by Archaeology World. Among the findings were also 15-inch-long sandals displaying signs of use and a boulder engraved with what seems to be a massive handprint.
Following the second excavation in 1931, a Nevada Review-Miner article claimed that two colossal skeletons were found in a dry lake bed near Lovelock. These remains, measuring 8.5 and 10 feet, were mummified in a way similar to the practices of Ancient Egyptians.
While this may seem unbelievable, similar stories of these mysterious people appear throughout the Americas.
In the 16th century, a Spanish conquistador named Pedro Cieza de León documented an old Peruvian story about the giants. Based on his writings, these towering beings “came by sea in rafts of reeds [in] the manner of large boats” and that “some of the men were so tall that from the knee down they were as big as the length of an ordinary fair-sized man.”
3,000 years old skeletons larger than normal human ones
Further up in the Andes, nestled between Peru and Bolivia, skeletons with elongated skulls have been discovered. These remains, believed to be around 3,000 years old, surpass the size of regular human skeletons. Interestingly, some of them also had red hair.
Archaeology World reports that certain scientists link this reddish color to the burial environment. On the other hand, some see it as evidence supporting the existence of the Si-Te-Cah and their kin.
