Turkish Coast Guard Harasses Greek Fishermen in New Video

Two Turkish Coast Guard vessels harassed a Greek fishing boat off the island of Oinousses, near Chios in the eastern Aegean in the most recent incident of its kind, apparently occurring on Thursday morning.

According to the local web site Politis, a Turkish vessel came inside Greek territorial waters and performed dangerous maneuvers in an attempt to drive the fishing boat away. When a Greek Coast Guard boat arrived at the scene, a second Turkish vessel came to reinforce the blockade.

Politis reports that a FRONTEX European border force vessel was nearby observing the incident — but it did not intervene.

It added that the standoff between the Turkish vessels and the Greek fishing boat lasted for approximately four hours.
